Title:
Making a Difference

Speaker:
Peter Jones, Chief Executive

Supply Chain Management is at the heart of almost every commercial sector. Crucial to making the supply chain both efficient and effective is the need to ensure that the logistics activities play their part in this. Our very recent history has thrown into sharp relief the pressures of:

  • rapidly increasing factory gate prices
  • the effects of the global economy
  • inflationary pressures on consumer budgets

Customers largely buy on perception and in particular the perception of value that they get from their supplier. The key to creating value is by providing a better service than that supplied by your competitors. So why is the logistics sector so bad at fostering the assets that will create the service. In one sector that LLA works in, that of Humanitarian Aid agencies and NGO, we have seen the introduction of professional development programmes that give a common baseline for these organisations. This gives, not only professional recognition within the logistics community, but has created much greater awareness of the importance of supply chain management across the work of the agencies.

Where the Aid Agencies have led - is it not time that the commercial world followed suit.

Zetes
12.00 - 12.30

Voice Technology - Optimising People and Processes

Agility Systems

12.45 - 13.15
Title:
Don't let systems hold you back

Speaker:
Simon Storey, General Manager Agility Systems/Martyn Broadhead, Sales Director, Agility Systems

Logistics operations have to respond to customers faster, monitor activities in real-time and reduce operating costs to a minimum. Too often, the corporate business systems (ERP) hinder rather than help. This seminar will illustrate how operations such as the Suzuki parts distribution hub have used modern technology to improve efficiency and reduce costs, without changes to their main business systems.

The Agile Logistics system can be added to existing ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) or WMS (Warehouse Management Systems). It works by dumbing down data maintained in ERP, and improves responsiveness, flexibility and operational features for the warehouse by providing a barcode-enabled ERP on a Gun. It includes a suite of management consoles for warehouse and logistics managers to control, manage and report on logistics activity for people, products and resources. Agile Logistics is implemented without any change to ERP, making it a quick and relatively low cost solution compared to alternative system changes.

OBS Logistics

13.30 - 14.00
Title:
Why 'Pay as You Go' is emerging in Logistics Systems Procurement

Speaker:
Dave Renshaw - CEO

OBS Logistics will explain how logistics operations can benefit from implementing Transport Management, Warehouse Management and Supply Chain Solutions as a managed service, enabling them to meet demanding service levels with the predictability of cost and cash flow benefits which come from paying based on system usage.

We will explore the trends in the logistics market, how these are impacting IT solutions, how a managed service approach is implemented and the benefits it brings. We will round off by providing a real life case study based on one of OBS Logistics' recent projects.

Twintec

Title:
Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete for Jointless Floor construction

Speaker:
Darryl Eddy, Commercial Director

Title:
Harvey's Remove Cost of False 'Damaged During Delivery' Claims With Momote

Speaker:
Max Sheridan (Business Development Manager)

Momote will be explaining how and why leading high street retailer, Harvey's Furniture Store, removed vast cost inefficiencies through developing a mobile application for their delivery drivers with Momote.

Apart from the vast improvements in the performance of their deliver drivers and the effect this had on the customer experience, Harvey's found another innovative use for mobile technology - avoiding false damage claims!!

As part of their mobile application, along with vital features such as route and job scheduling technology, Harvey's delivery drivers were able to capture photographs of all deliveries made meaning false damage claims from customers were easily disproved, leading to a substantial drop in the unnecessary costs associated with this.

Momote will be presenting real-life action shots of Harvey's application including features such as GPS tracking, RTA notifications, Tom-Tom integration and the vital photograph capture feature, as well as giving examples of the size of the cost savings Harvey's made.

RFID, Wireless and Mobility - which is right for me?

Speaker:
Simon Storey, General Manager Agility Systems/Martyn Broadhead, Sales Director, Agility Systems

Logistics operations are under constant pressure to improve performance and reduce costs, and the IT industry is developing alternative solutions (each claiming huge benefits) faster than ever before. How can we decide which is the most suitable technology, when many companies are not even using bar-code technologies that have been available for 25 years?

Agility Systems provides a wide range of IT solutions based on different technologies, each of which will be more suitable for some applications than others. Simon Storey, who is an expert in this field, will guide us through the IT maze, highlighting benefits and possible pitfalls of different applications in manufacturing, distribution and service industries. This non-technical presentation promises to be both informative and useful.
