Cimcorp is about Robotics Systems for Logistics Operations. Three core competencies are required to achieve excellence in this area: Robotics, Logistics and IT. Cimcorp uniquely combines the three and you cannot fully and fairly benchmark Cimcorp without considering them all.

Robotics; among the many robot suppliers around the world Cimcorp, by focusing on logistics, has gained the leading position when it comes to automating supply chain operations. This is robotics that helps logistics operators improve throughput, reduce picking errors and damage, save space and improve control of the material flow. It involves technology for handling crates, cartons, retail packs, tires, paper reels etc. And the technology focuses not only on being able to handle and manipulate the goods – but on storing, picking, sorting and assembling customer orders at speed.

Logistics is a key concept because developing effective solutions for logistics operations is different from robotics in assembly and manufacturing, but the differences may not be instantly visible. They depend on understanding material flows through supply chains. This may involve matching a production flow on the one side with a highly variable set of customer orders for a large number of SKUs (Stock Keeping Units) on the other side. There are always more than one way of solving this type of problem: if the solution is wrong it doesn’t matter how good the robot technology is – you will not get your payback. This is why the methodology and the software are as important as the robot that you see. The methodology makes sure you get the right solution through analyses, pre-studies, simulation and emulation, factory testing and effective project implementation.

IT is critical - and we refer here not only to the system that controls the movement of the robots but also to the material flow, the inventory, the orders on the system and the communication with the other systems that make up the complete supply chain control network. Cimcorp systems are nearly always in critical parts of the supply chain, where customer orders have to be picked correctly, assembled and dispatched in precise time windows. Cimcorp’s systems have been developed to optimize performance both with respect to utilizing the storage capacity within the robot cells and the capacity to pick and assemble the outgoing flow of orders. The great flexibility of the 'open floor' system of the Cimcorp robots is matched by a very user-friendly control software. Via a simple graphical user interface operators can modify the operation as needs arise; changing storage area allocations, changing priorities and so on.
